Day One & a Half

Ok, so the lady on the phone at hotels.com finally found us a room at a Days Inn. We drove over there and wouldn't you know it, there were like eight cops in the parking lot. John got out and asked one of the cops what was going on. She said that someone had been shot. Apparently they were dead because there was not an ambulance and an investigator was taking photos. It looked like an episode from CSI. I'm posting pictures of it so check it out. We called the hotel lady back and told her what had happened. She put John on a three way call with the hotel clerk. The hotel clerk had no idea what was going on. She said " I don't know what's going on. The cops are here but the room is still available." Like we are going to stay there! That's Mobile AL for ya. That was the only room in Mobile (thank god), so we had to travel further south on 10. She kept checking and we drove by hotels to see if there were any rooms. There were no rooms on the whole gulf coast due to the oil spill clean up. The nearest hotel that she could get us into was in New Orleans! So we hit the road and got here in New Orleans about 5am. We had to drive through Alabama and through Mississippi. The hotels.com lady had set us up at the Hilton in downtown New Orleans for Saturday night and an early check in. So, despite all the trouble we went through, we ended up where we wanted to be, in a nice expensive hotel at the price of the original super 8. Not bad. :) Then we went to sleep. The End. (oh, the hotel didn't have free WI FI so I'm catching the blog up at PJ's coffee shop. Great strawberry smoothies!)
