Day Six

We left from Jo's to go eat lunch with Jamie and James. On our way some guy in a pickup decided that it would be funny to spit chew out of his window onto our car windsheild. Talk about road rage! That's the second time I've seen someone spit on someone's car. This time it was ours. So after that incident we got to James and Jamie's place. We got there around 3pm and ate at "The Salt Lick" which is a famous BBQ joint. It was very delicious. It was a really cool place. They had this huge BBQ pit with pounds of meat smoking. The guy basted the meat with a mop of BBQ sause. A MOP! That's some serious BBQing. After lunch we headed out on the open road. We decided to take a different route thanks to some friends who have been out this way. Jamie said that 10 is really boring and I do agree. So we decided to take a northern direction as to get away from Mexico. I have an issue with getting to close to that area. I have no desire to be anywhere near mexico. I actually think its because I'm so brown and I'm scared they may think I hopped over the border. I know, that is ridiculious, but if you know my luck, it would probably happen. Anyway, we headed out and saw some beautful Texas country. There are many ranches just like in the cowboy movies. We even stopped at a park to see longhorns!! They were massive. After the park we kept getting it down the road. We came to a little town called Mason. Very nice town. We ate at the local dinner. You could tell we weren't in Kansas any more. Oh I mean South Carolina. People were friendly though. Oh and they didn't have Coke or Pepsi. They had RC Cola! crazy. As we ate we did see a guy in a black piece of crap pickup drive by like six times. He gunned the engine everytime. I was waiting for the engine to fall out. After a yummy 2/3 lb cheeseburger I let John take the wheel and we headed to Lubbouck TX. This is where we are currently and we didn't get here till 2 this morning. Oh, there are two things I saw that was amazing: The milky way galaxy- we stopped on the side of the road and it was pitch black. You can't see it where we live. It looks like a cloud of stars. Very pretty. John was real excited that he could see it. And we saw hundreds of wind mills!! I mean HUNDREDS! Apparently it is very windy this way so they have all of the giant windmills to make electricity. To see them in real life was awesome. Only problem is that is was night. So to me it looked like hundreds of red dots. We did stop to try to see them. I could see the blades turning and you could hear them cutting through the wind. AWESOME! As for the scenery, very flat land with shrub bushes. We are getting very close to the desert. But overall it was amazing. Can't wait to start the next day!!! Maybe I can get some pictures of the windmills. I'll upload more pictures later when we get to Albuquerque.
